Galactic Starveyors Slime/Playdough

Galactic Starveyors Slime/Playdough activity or craft for Lifeway VBS 2017. This is part of the Kindergarten material so I am not sure if this is also one of the activities or crafts suggested for grades 1- 6th. Starveyors of all ages will enjoy this Galactic Slime.

What you Need:

  • Clear School Glue
  • Liquid Starch
  • Liquid watercolors or food coloring
  • Fine Glitter

How to Make:

  1. Pour one 5-ounce bottle of glue into a bowl.
  2. 2. Add drops of liquid watercolor and fine glitter. Mix well.
  3. Add a small amount of starch, then mix well.
  4. Continue to add starch (approx. 1/2 to 3/4 cups total) until desired consistency is reached. Slime will be stretchy. (Note: As the slime thickens, you will need to use your hands to mix in the starch.
  5. Swirl and mix all four colors of slime together to achieve the look of the galaxy.

Galactic Play Dough

What you Need:

  • 2 Cups of All purpose Flour
  • 1 Cup Salt
  • 2 Cups of Water
  • 1 Teaspoon cream of tarter
  • Liquid watercolors or food color
  • Glitter (fine or regular)
  • Measuring cup
  • Saucepan
  • Optional: Glow in the dark star shapes
  • Optional: small stones
  • Star and circle cookie cutters
  • Rolling pins
  • Gallon-sized ziplock bag

How to Make:

  1. Add food color in the measuring cup, so together with water, the liquids do not measure more than 2 cups.
  2. Use plenty of coloring to give play dough a deep color, or less for a brighter color.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Place ingredients (except glitter) in a saucepan.
  5. Stir continuously as you heat the dough over medium heat. Continue until the play dough is formed.
  6. Pour play dough onto the counter and let it cool a bit.
  7. Squish the dough out and sprinkle glitter on it.
  8. kneed the dough to work in the glitter well.
  9. Place dough in a ziplock bag.
  10. Consider making multiple colors.
  11. Provide preschoolers with Galactic Play Dough, cookie cutters, and rolling pins.
  12. Guide kids to roll and squish the glittery dough and cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
  13. Optional: Provide stars and stones (moon rocks) for kids to press in the dough.
