Minecraft Sword Tutorial
Below you will find the supplies needed as well as step by step instructions with pictures on how to make a Minecraft Sword. They do not take much effort and anyone can build them however these will take time to make. So make sure you allow for time to build these swords.
What you Need:
- Cardboard (alot)
- Packing Tape
- Scotch tape permanent
- Various colors of tissue paper
- Christmas gift boxes
How to Make:
First you will need to get your Minecraft sword shape cut out. You can download the cuttable SVG, PDF, PNG Minecraft Sword file here. You will receive a compressed zip file that will need to be unzipped in order to use the files.
Now that you have your base shape cut out you can have your kids trace on cardboard several Minecraft sword patterns. You could cut these on your machine but it would be just as fast as tracing and manually cutting once you toss in changing the settings on your cutting machine and watching the machine cut so everything stays in place without messing up!
Now that you have all your swords traced it is time to cut them out. If your children are good at cutting you can even have them help you with this part.
Now you can make them thicker by adding multiple together and tape. I use duct tape or packing tape on some of them to make them thicker. I only combined 2 together but you can do more. Depends on how thick you want your swords to be.
I was concerned that my swords are not thick enough so I added a layer using the Christmas gift boxes. So what I did is used one side with flaps and taped them down. And the other side I just traced and cut out another sword shape and tape it to give a nice finishing touch.
Now the fun begins! I made all the swords different so no two were alike. Cover with desired color on both sides. Cut out remainder pieces for the sword from cardstock or construction paper and glue on each side of the sword.
That is it! You are done!
